2026 Edition

Booking & Cancellation Policy

Please read this policy carefully. Payment of a deposit constitutes full acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

Bookings & Payments

All bookings are only secured once the deposit for the whole boat or individual place has been received.

Please use your name and the trip date as the payment reference, and WhatsApp me once payment has been made so I can confirm receipt. This ensures we both have a clear electronic record of the transaction.

The remaining balance is payable:

  • By bank transfer after 18:30 the night before the trip, once the trip is confirmed
  • Or by cash on the day

Last-minute card payments are accepted onboard for tackle purchases and losses only. I reserve the right to charge a small card transaction fee.
We are a micro business and work hard to keep overheads and prices as low as possible.

Rolling Deposit for Regular Customers

Regular customers may opt to pay an annual rolling deposit of £50.

This allows you to:

  • Book any trip without paying further deposits
  • Pay the full trip price either the night before by bank transfer or by cash on the day

Your rolling deposit can be:

  • Used against your final trip of the year
  • Or refunded upon request in December 2026

Cancellations by Patricia Rose Charters

Trips may be cancelled if:

  • Conditions are too rough or unsafe
  • There are safety or mechanical concerns
  • There are insufficient numbers to make the trip viable (normally 75% capacity)

If I cancel or change the advertised trip, I will always try to reschedule you as soon as possible.
If this is not suitable, you are entitled to a full, no-quibble refund of your deposit, paid back to the original account.

Weather & Trip Confirmation

I cannot be held responsible for weather conditions. If you are booking accommodation, I strongly recommend flexible cancellation options.

Weather can change rapidly. Trips are normally confirmed after 18:30 the night before sailing, although I may make an earlier call if conditions are clearly unsafe several days in advance.

Please do not second-guess or pressure for early decisions. I take the responsibility of taking people to sea extremely seriously and have over 40 years’ experience doing so safely.

Customer Cancellations

If you cancel after committing to a booking:

  • Your deposit is non-refundable
  • If cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the trip, you remain liable for the full trip cost

The only exception is if I am able to find a last-minute replacement, in which case only the deposit is retained as an administration fee.

Failure to pay balances in line with this policy will result in:

  • Blacklisting from future trips
  • Details being shared with other charter operators
  • Recovery of outstanding balances via the small claims court, where necessary

I will not charge other customers for someone else’s failure to attend or arrive on time.

WhatsApp Group Communication

Before your trip, you will be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group for that specific sailing.

This group is used to:

  • Share trip updates and the final go/no-go decision
  • Allow anglers to introduce themselves
  • Arrange car sharing or parking
  • Confirm rod hire or bait requirements

Please do not use the group for unrelated business after the trip.

⚠️ Never share bank details in the group chat.
If you require a refund, please direct message me with your account name, sort code and account number. All messages are end-to-end encrypted and protected.

Departure Point & Parking

We currently operate from Mayflower Pontoon, Barbican Landing Stage, Plymouth
Postcode: PL1 2NX

Recommended all-day parking:

  • Elphinstone Car Park (cheapest for short stays – Ringo App)
  • Lambhay Hill Car Park

Car sharing is encouraged to reduce parking costs.

Tackle Hire & Alcohol Policy

Tackle hire is available at £15 per set per day, or complimentary on half-day trips where required.

Hire includes two sets of terminal losses. Additional losses are chargeable on the day.
Replacement terminal tackle starts from £5 per set.

Due to previous losses of equipment:

  • A strict no-alcohol policy applies when hiring tackle
  • If using your own gear, a sensible afternoon beer is acceptable
  • No spirits are permitted

This is not a booze cruise. Alcohol significantly impairs safety offshore.
If I consider anyone unfit due to drink or drugs, I reserve the right to terminate the charter at your cost.

Passenger Numbers & Comfort

The vessel is licensed for 12 passengers, however feedback shows 8 anglers provides the best comfort and fishing space.

Occasionally, up to 9 match anglers may be taken for competitions.
We will never exceed 8 passengers when rod hire equipment or novice anglers are onboard.

Reduced numbers help keep trips comfortable, safe and prices competitive by lowering fuel costs.

Onboard Rules & Facilities

  • Smoking and vaping permitted with respect to others
  • Your catch is yours to keep if legally sized and intended for consumption
  • I will never sell your catch
  • Fresh sea ice is provided free of charge

I follow best-practice conservation guidelines, including the Pollack Pact, and adhere to enhanced retention standards.

There is a clean, private on-deck toilet cubicle onboard.

Food, Clothing & Refreshments

Complimentary refreshments (tea, coffee, soup, biscuits) are provided when possible, but this is not an on-demand service.

For longer trips, please bring your own food and drinks.
If you wish to drink soup all day, bring your own flask.

Please dress appropriately:

  • Weather can change quickly at sea
  • Wear suitable footwear
  • Flip-flops and sliders are not suitable

Bait Supply

Quality blast-frozen bait is available from a local military veteran supplier.

I can advise on what and how much bait to order and will let you know if you are over-ordering.
There are no buy-backs. Bait is removed from freezers on the morning of the trip and will defrost during the day.

We aim to catch fresh bait (mackerel, scad, launce) when possible, but availability is not guaranteed.

Other bait types may be arranged subject to availability — please ask in advance.
